This afternoon I was stunned to see an adult Bewick's Swan at Juanita Bay
Park. There were also two Trumpeter and two Whistling Swans (one of which
is the continuing young bird). They were all there at dusk so chances
should be good for it continuing tomorrow.

For those interested in this Eurasian swan there is a nice article in North
American Birds by Steve Mlodinow and Michael Schwitters - v64: No. 1, 2010
(Aug-Nov 2009). I believe there are still fewer than 15 records from the
state, with this being the first in King County.

Other birds in the bay included a Snow Goose, 140 Ring-necked Ducks, 21
Common Goldeneye, 3 Ruddy Ducks, a Spotted Sandpiper and a Bonaparte's
Gull. There have been two Snow Geese there recently but I only saw the one
this afternoon. On Halloween there were a dozen Red-breasted Mergansers
far out in the bay.
