Hi Tweets,

There were lots of ANCIENT MURRELETS flying south this morning, quite
a distance out from the Edmonds public pier. Then five came in quite
close and hung around for outstanding views. It was a five alcid
morning with two Marbled Murrelets, Pigeon Guillemots, Common Murres,
and Rhinoceros Auklets. One of the Rhinos was still in breeding
plumage. Two PACIFIC LOONS were also in close to the pier. At 20 power
you could get Ancient Murrelet, Pacific Loon, Bonaparte's Gull, and
Rhinoceros Auklet all in one scope view. The were fly-bys of four
Harlequin Ducks (2 drakes, 2 hens), one Barrow's Goldeneye (drake), a
number of Common Goldeneyes, and a probable Common Loon. There were
MERLINS this morning at the marsh and at Yost Park.

I want to correct my statement of yesterday about last week's Cassin's
Auklet being a fly-by. It was on the water and observed for
approximately ten minutes. It extended its wings so that the observer
could see the pale center stripes on the under side of the wings in
addition to other field marks.
