Brad Waggoner and I had a great time yesterday spending the holiday looking
for passerines in and around Neah Bay. Here are the highlights:

GOLDEN EAGLE - 1 adult/subadult seen a couple times near the mouth of the
Wa'atch River. It seems likely, based on both plumage and the unlikelihood
of a Golden Eagle in the general area, that this is the same bird
photographed by Nigel Ball in the same area back on 7 October

TENNESSEE WARBLER - 1 adult male foraging with a flock of Golden-crowned
Sparrows just south of Makah Mini Mart (same place as several other recent
rarities including the Cassin's Finch seen by Ryan Shaw & Co. on Saturday)

SWAMP SPARROW - 1 called non-stop for several minutes before hopping up and
giving nice views. Along the Wa'atch Valley in the cattails just east of
the Makah Transfer Station

ORCHARD ORIOLE - 1 hatch-year male just starting to get a few red feathers
on the breast and black feathers on the head. This is the same individual
found by Brad and Dan Waggoner back on 21 October and was at the same
location - the west end of town where the road starts out toward the outer
breakwater

We also had a Wilson's Snipe, 2 Anna's Hummingbirds, at least 3 Northern
Shrikes, 2 Hutton's Vireos, 3 Hermit Thrush, a Snow Bunting, 2
Orange-crowned Warblers, 2 Western Palm Warblers, 2 Myrtle Warblers, 4
Townsend's Warblers, 140+ Fox Sparrows, 2 Lincoln's Sparrows, hundreds of
Red Crossbills, and 700+ Pine Siskins.
