This morning, while looking from the Edmonds public pier for Ancient
Murrelets, we were treated to the sight of a female SNOWY OWL. As the
Spokane was making its crossing from Kingston, a large white bird was
seen among the gulls near the ferry. She followed the boat for a bit
and then headed for the marina breakwater, with gulls chasing her. She
stayed on the breakwater for a few minutes and then flew back across
the Sound to Kitsap County, this time accompanied by both crows and
gulls. From the various reports, it looks like we might be in another
irruptive year for Snowies.
