Subject: [Tweeters] Speaking of Snowy Owl Rescues...

In talking with a photographer last week, out at Eide Rd. where we were both looking for Short-eared Owls, the topic of a rescued Snowy came up. Last winter (Dec. or Jan. ?), an "emaciated", barely moving Snowy Owl was picked up near Ebey Island by a couple of guys who had noticed it. Either they or someone else, captured it and took it to "Second Chance" animal rescue in Snohomish. I had never heard what happened after that and assumed it didn't make it. The man at Eide (Greg) said that it had recovered and had been released.

That was good to hear - hope the same happens with the Capitol Hill Snowy that was picked up and taken to Sarvey Wildlife Center in Arlington this morning (Tues.). Thanks to Sarvey - I'm sure they will do their usual great rehab care and hope they get word out as to the fate of that owl. I'm sure they would appreciate a little donation, if you are so inclined. Perhaps one of you Tweets could post a link to the Sarvey website...

Is this year's Snowy phenomenon an irruption or something else? Too early to tell?
