We must have done something right earlier in our
lives: today Cara Borre and I tried for the Palm
Warbler at Wylie Slough/Fir Island Game Range and
after an initial miss, we met up with Michael
Willison and our second time around Cara found the
bird and we had excellent looks. It flitted
around so much that decent photos were difficult,
but one can be found at

which also has some Rough Legs from the Samish
Flats West 90. There we also had a great visit
with 8 Short Eared Owls and many Rough Legs, a
Northern Shrike, many Northern Harriers, a couple
of Eagles, some Red Tails and a Kestrel. Added to
the two snowy owls that Michael first found at Fir
Island plus a swift fly by Peregrine there and a
Sharp Shinned, it was an excellent Raptor Day.
AND - we did not get rained on - at least while we
were in the field. Sure did rain on the drive
home though.
