Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday October 15. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On November 12 an EIDER passed Boiler Bay. It was believed to be a COMMON
EIDER. Also on November 12 a DICKCISSEL was photographed along Fenk Road
near Tillamook. On November 7 a BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER was photographed
in North Portland. A NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH was reported November 12 at
Millacoma Marsh near Coos Bay.

Large numbers of SNOWY OWLS are now in northern Washington and British
Columbia. Many are reported as being in poor condition. On November 10 one
was photographed in Lake Oswego and others were reported elsewhere in the
Willamette Valley.

Large numbers of PINE SISKINS are now being reported in many parts of the
state. Lowland MOUNTAIN CHICKADEES continue to be reported, as are TROPICAL
KINGBIRDS along the coast.

On November 12 a TREE SPARROW was at Millacoma Marsh. Up to 14
WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS were there during the week. Three LAPLAND LONGSPURS
were seen during the week at the North Spit of the Siuslaw River. On
November 12 a GYRFALCON was at the Nestucca NWR near Pacific City. A
BREWER?S SPARROW was along Fenk Road November 24. Two TRUMPETER SWANS were
at Astoria November 10. A CATTLE EGRET is now being seen at Brownsmead, east
of Astoria.

Up to five TRUMPETER SWANS were reported during the week on Sauvie Island.
The LONG-TAILED DUCK continues at Smith/Bybee Lakes in North Portland. Among
the more regular birds at the Fernhill Wetlands during the week were a
GLAUCOUS GULL, two RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS, eight TRUMPETER SWANS, two SWAMP
SPARROWS, a BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, a ROSS?S GOOSE, a PRAIRIE FALCON on
November 13, and a late OSPREY on November 9. A RED-THROATED LOON and a
COMMON LOON were near the Salem Airport during the week. On November 10 two
SURF SCOTERS and two RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS were at the Philomath Sewage
Ponds.

On November 8 a MARBLED GODWIT was at the mouth of Hood River. Three
GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCHES were seen November 9 on Grizzly Butte near
Prineville. Two ROSY-FINCHES were on Pilot Butte in Bend November 13. On
November 11 three PACIFIC LOONS, two LONG-TAILED DUCKS, eight SURF SCOTERS,
three WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS, and three RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS were at
Wickiup Reservoir. A TREE SPARROW was near LaGrande November 9.
