Greetings all,
I stopped at the Hoffman Hill overlook of the Nisqually Delta, accessed from Dupont and scanned the delta for about 30 minutes from 4:30 to 5:00PM before the light was gone.
I counted 5 Snowy Owls on the delta - 2 were on the Pierce County side (1 flew over the river into Thurston). 3 others were on the far side nearest Luhr Beach. There could have been more; viewing conditions with the fading light where not optimal.
Also 2 Short-eared Owls on the Pierce side of the delta. One was flushed by the Snowy that flew over the river and it too switched sides going over into Thurston County.
Also seen were a few Harriers and a Peregrine Falcon chasing around the Dunlin.
Cheers
Ryan Shaw - Tacoma
