Howdy Tweets,

A pair of Cackling Geese (minima) have been spending their days at the UW
Seattle Campus for the last week or so. I think they basically stay on the
grassy spaces around drumheller fountain, which is the big fountain
southeast of red square and northwest of the intersection of montlake ave
and pacific st.

The Cacklers have been in a flock with about 40 canada geese and 3 greater
white fronted geese. Thousands of people walk by them every day, so it is
pretty easy to see them from fairly close without disturbing them. Their
proximity to the larger geese makes for a nice comparison too. Today I
noticed another small goose, which looked a lot like the two minima geese,
but slightly larger, with somewhat lighter coloration. If you haven't seen
cackling geese up close, or next to canada geese you should check these out!

This is a picture that I took on my phone at about 4:00pm this afternoon
