Tweets,
I'll chime in to say we are seeing the same thing here in Bothell--scores of
Pine Siskins at the feeder for much of the day. We had 2 big years for
siskins after a couple of years of minimal winter activity. But this 3rd
year of siskin flocks beats all. You can practically watch the seed go down
in the tube. I have new sympathy for the folks who complain about how
Band-tailed Pigeon flocks eat them out of house and feeder. Oooh-a pair of
Hairy WPs just flew in, so I will stop complaining!

My wife and I have noticed the same thing the last several days with large
flocks of Pine Siskens. Seems like I have seen flocks of a 100 or more going
from tree to tree and swarming our feeders. I've definitely seen some
dominate Siskens trying to keep others out of a side of a hopper feeder.
I've also seen some taking a downward pose on the feeder like a Nuthatch.

Tippi Hedren move over, well, not exactly. No gulls or corvids but we are
being inundated by hundreds of Pine Siskins on our bird feeders and bath.
Is this a common winter occurrence here in Puget Sound?
