Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Friday November 23. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On November 21 a YELLOW WAGTAIL was reported near John Day. On November 15 a
MANX-TYPE SHEARWATER passed Boiler Bay. Two HOODED ORIOLES are now coming
to feeders south of Tillamook. The Brownsmead CATTLE EGRET continues to be
seen. One or two SNOWY OWLS are now at the South Jetty of the Columbia
River. On November 17 a COMMON POORWILL was found in Pacific City and taken
to the North Coast Wildlife Center. Three ROCK SANDPIPERS were at Cape Arago
November 19.

On November 21 Among the many migrants passing Boiler Bay were 3000
RED-THROATED LOONS, 80,000 PACIFIC LOONS, 15,000 FULMARS, two MOTTLED
PETRELS, 20,000 SOOTY SHEARWATERS, 350 LEACH?S STORM-PETRELS, 500 BROWN
PELICANS, 600 RED PHALAROPES, 243 POMARINE JAEGERS, two PARASITICS and 3
SKUAS, 500 HEERMANN?S GULLS, 1000 KITTIWAKES, and a PARAKEET AUKLET.

On November 16 a late female WESTERN TANAGER was at Ridgefield WA. That day
a late OSPREY was at Ridgefield NWR. On November 20 the SNOWY EGRET was seen
again at Smith/Bybee Lakes in North Portland. That day 73 WESTERN GREBES and
four RED-NECKED GREBES were on the Columbia River off Hayden Island. Near
the mouth of the Sandy River in Troutdale November 18 were two female
RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS and 62 HOODED MERGANSERS. Two TUFTED DUCKS were on
the Columbia off the Portland Airport November 22. That day a BROWN PELICAN
was seen flying over southwest Portland. A late RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD and a
ROSS?S GOOSE were in Eugene November 16. A late male BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK
was in Winston November 18. That day a HARRIS?S SPARROW was near Grants
Pass.

On November 15 a TRUMPETER SWAN was at Trillium Lake in the Cascades south
of Mt. Hood. At Malheur NWR November 18 were two ROSS?S GEESE, a HARRIS?S
SPARROW, and a TREE SPARROW. A SAY?S PHOEBE was in Hines November 17. On
November 20 a young male RED-BREASTED MERGANSER and a young HOODED MERGANSER
were on the Island City Sewage Ponds north of LaGrande.
