Subject: [Tweeters] Alki Yesterday - Killer Morning

I was doing an errand in West Seattle in the late
morning and figured I would at least drive around
Alki and hope that the reported Gyrfalcon might
miraculously appear. No such luck, but as
reported by Kyle Waggener, there were Surfbirds
and Black Turnstones and the regular and always
appreciated Harlequins in addition to Surf
Scoters, Bufflehead, Red Necked, Horned and
Western Grebes. The highlight though was a large
pod of Killer Whales heading South. There were
many people out watching them ... alerted by their
own version of tweeters. We saw at least 18 Orcas
and there may have been more. No breaches but
lots of big dorsal fins ...
