Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday November 29. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On November 25 a NORTHERN HAWK OWL was reported from near Miles Crossing in
Astoria. At least three SNOWY OWLS are now in the area around the South
Jetty of the Columbia River.

MOUNTAIN CHICKADEES continue in the lowlands, including two now being seen
in Brookings. Large numbers of RED CROSSBILLS are still being seen along the
coast. On November 22 a flock of over 1400 was north of Florence at Heceta
Beach.

On November 25 a TREE SWALLOW was at Cape Blanco. Two RED KNOTS were at Coos
Bay November 24. A BURROWING OWL was seen November 24 on Bayocean Spit at
Tillamook Bay. On November 27 over 3000 DUNLIN were on Clatsop Beach south
of Warrenton.

A wintering male BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK continues in Northwest Portland.
Another was in Eugene November 25. On November 24 a BARROW?S GOLDENEYE was
in Reed College Canyon in southeast Portland. A CASSIN?S FINCH was seen
November 25 at Powell Butte Park in Gresham. A late TURKEY VULTURE was in
Beavercreek east of Oregon City November 23. On Hagg Lake south of Forest
Grove November 22 were two SURF SCOTERS and a WHITE-WINGED SCOTER.

On November 23 at The Dalles Dam were 11 COMMON GOLDENEYES, two PACIFIC
LOONS, and five RED-NECKED GREBES. A FERRUGINOUS HAWK was seen November 26
at Eagle Creek above BENNEVILLE DAM. At the Prineville Sewage Ponds November
26 were three RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS, five BARROW?S GOLDENEYES, and a male
REDPOLL. On November 25 four REDPOLLS were at Coombs Canyon south of
Pendleton. One was at Malheur NWR November 27.
