Hello Tweets,
I had to drive down to Portland this morning and made an effort to
locate the Ross's Goose reported recently as I passed through
Chehalis. I found a large flock of Cackling and Canada Geese along the
HWY 603 just south of SR 6, but there were no white geese to be found
in the group. I parked where HWY 603 crosses the Willapa Hills Trail
to see if I moving down the trail might reveal a hidden Ross's. As I
started on the trail a familiar call came from the marsh and a BLACK
PHOEBE flew up and landed in a tree just a few feet off the trail.
BLACK PHOEBE is not listed on the Lewis County checklist, nor can I
find any records in eBird. Is this the first county record of this
species?

Also in the same area were a GREAT EGRET (Lewis County Code 4,
according to my checklist).

I also had a BLACK PHOEBE at Ridgefield NWR, but I believe that
species has been seen there quite a bit this year.
