Saturday, during my regular rounds of the cemetery and environs, I noted
molted feathers of Red-tail, Great Horned Owl, flicker, AND a beautiful
primary of Barn Owl as well as a smaller feather from same! At the north
end ponds there were ten Greater White-fronted Geese with Canadas. I then
discovered a Pileated being chased around the trunks and from tree to tree
by a Red-breasted Sapsucker. Anyone ever witness this type
species-to-species harassment before? Every Pileated I'd ever seen was left
to its own devices. That sapsucker kept me from setting up and capturing
very good photos of the Pileated.
