There was a Great Egret roosting on the log booms at the Dick Gilmur Public Beach Access in Tacoma off 509, Marine View Drive, along the northeast shore of Commencement Bay. The Egret was in a flock of several hundred California Gulls. Other species on the booms included Mew Gull, Glaucous-winged Gull, Olympic Gull, one Thayer's Gull, one Western Gull, Black Turnstone, Great Blue Heron and Double-crested/Brandt/Pelagic Cormorant.
