Greetings Tweeters. I wanted to let folks know about a walk sponsored by the Northwest Science Writers Association. The walk will be on Saturday, October 13 with acclaimed birder and author Lyanda Lynn Haupt. She is the award-winning author of Crow Planet and Rare Encounters with Ordinary Birds.

As she says: "We are fortunate in Seattle: we can observe saltwater birds that other birders travel all the way to the ocean to view! On this walk we?ll stroll West Seattle?s beautiful Alki Beach in search of early winter seabirds. Goldeneyes, harlequin ducks, scoters, brant, and many others are possible, along with shorebirds, terns, bald eagles, and osprey. We may spot marine mammals: harbor seals, Steller?s or California sea lions, river otters, or?I won?t say it, because I don?t want to jinx it. Bring binoculars, scopes, and field guides if you have them."

So come join the science writers. We are a nice group and Ms. Haupt is even nicer.
