Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday October 4. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On September 27 a CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER and a TENNESSEE WARBLER were at
Malheur NWR Headquarters. A PALM WARBLER was there the next day. The
immature LITTLE-BLUE HERON north of Frenchglen continues to be seen. A male
ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK and a BEWICK?S WREN were at Fields September 30. On
September 27 a TROPICAL KINGBIRD was near Cape Blanco. A DICKCISSEL was
there the next day.

The conspicuous WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE migration continues. Migrant SNOW GEESE
are now arriving. Numbers of RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES are now being reported
in Western Oregon.

On September 29 a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was at Flores Lake, a PALM WARBLER at
Gold Beach, and a MOCKINGBIRD at Pistol River. Three CLAY-COLORED SPARROWS
were at Ophir September 30. On September 28 a LARK SPARROW was at
Charleston. A SWAMP SPARROW was at Flores Lake October 3.

An immature FRANKLIN?S GULL was seen during the week on Sauvie Island and at
Smith/Bybee Lakes. Over 100 WHITE PELICANS are now in the Sauvie
Island/north Portland area. Two were on Coffee Lake near Wilsonville October
2. A BRANT was at the Fernhill Wetlands October 3. Among many shorebirds at
Fern Ridge Reservoir September 29 were two BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, an
AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER, and a PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER. On September 29 a
MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE was at Eugene. Another was seen the same day near
Roseburg.

On September 28 a SAGE THRASHER and a BREWER?S SPARROW were at the mouth of
Hood River. Among a swarm of migrants at Chukar Park Campground near Juntura
September 28 was a BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER.
