Subject: [Tweeters] Golden eagle in western WA?

Dear Rob and Tweeters,
?
Most of the Golden Eagles I have seen have been in Skagit County, with a few in Whatcom and San Juan. Ignoring the San Juan ones, I have found GOEA in Western Washington?34 times over the last 21 years. The breakdown by month is as follows (month followed by number of incidents):
?
September 7
?
June 5
?
February 4
?
April 4
?
January 3
?
March 3
?
August 3
?
November 2
?
May, July, October 1
?
December zero.
?
Recently, they have not been turning?up anywhere near as often as they did in the 1990's. I have not seen one this year in W WA, for example. Also, my best place had always been Sibley Pass (off Cascade River Road) in September. This year was the?first time that I visited that site in September and did not see a GOEA.
?
Yours truly,,
?

>I have seen Golden Eagles three times in Western Washington, all in the eastern part of King County (Preston, North Bend).? I'm trying to find my logs on these but I think most of them were in later September / early October.? It would not surprise me if they are summer resident in the higher Cascades.
