Highlights of today's Dungeness Audubon Center/Railroad Bridge Park birdwalk in Sequim, led by the indefatigable Bob Boekelheide resulted in some great fall species for Clallam County. In addition to the sparrows: Lincoln's, Golden-crowned & White-crowned, Song, Fox & Oregon race Dark-eyed Juncos, we saw an immature Northern Shrike, Hutton's Vireo, Varied Thrush, Purple Finch, American Dipper, California Quail, Canada Goose, adult Bald Eagle, Cooper's Hawk, "Olympic" Gull, Eurasian Collared-Dove, Anna's Hummingbird, Red-breasted Sapsucker, Downy & Hairy Woodpeckers, (Red-shafted) Northern Flicker, Stellar's Jay, American/Northwestern Crow, Common Raven, Belted Kingfisher, Black-capped & Chestnut-backed Chickadees, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Brown Creeper, Pacific Wren, Golden-crowned & Ruby-crowned Kinglets, American Robin, Yellow-rumped & Townsend's Warblers, Brewer's Blackbird, House Finch, Pine siskin & American Goldfinch and a few other common species. A great day of birding in a beautiful area of the state.
