Hello there Tweeters,
Thanks to all who responded to my request for recommendations of the best
rain boots to buy for the winter birding season ahead. I received 13
responses. The most-recommended boot is the NEO (New England Overshoe), with
7 votes, then it's a tie with three votes each for Bogs and Xtra-Tuff.
NEO: "These are very light weight - easy to pack for trips or in a pack -
easy to slip on as they go right over whatever footwear you happen to be
wearing. Mine are 13 years old and still going strong. They have a number of
styles from which to choose."
Bogs: "comfortable and warm but pricey (close to $100) and easy to put on
and take off."
Xtra-Tuff: Cheapest option, a more traditional style 'rubber' boots, the
three fans of these boots raved about their sturdiness and comfort.
Result: I am going with the xtra-tuff, and I hope to get them at Seattle
Marine and Fishing Supply over behind Fisherman's Terminal in the Magnolia
neighborhood.
Thanks again for your quick and thorough responses! -Mary Bond, Seattle
