Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday October 11. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On October 6 a BROWN BOOBY was photographed on an offshore boat trip out of
Newport. A LAYSAN ALBATROSS was also seen on the trip. A WORM-EATING WARBLER
was seen October 9 at Pistol River. A MAGNOLIA WARBLER was at Benson Pond
and a YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was at Malheur Refuge Headquarters October 8.
A BOBOLINK was reported October 6 near Langlois. On October 6 a CASSIN?S
SPARROW was photographed at Flores Lake.

Large numbers of PINE SISKINS are now being reported along the coast.

On October 9 a gray phase GYRFALCON was at Flores Lake. A CLAY-COLORED
SPARROW and seven ELEGANT TERNS were at Gold Beach October 5. On October 7
two Palm Warblers were near Bandon. A TROPICAL KINGBIRD, a CLAY-COLORED
SPARROW, and two LAPLAND LONGSPURS were on the North Spit of Coos Bay
October 7. A BURROWING OWL was seen October 8 in Charleston. A TROPICAL
KINGBIRD was at Fishing Rocks SP near Fogarty Creek SP October 9. Another
TROPICAL was at the Marine Science Center on Yaquina Bay October 7. Two PALM
WARBLERS were seen October 7 at the S. jetty of the Siuslaw River.

On October 10 a migrant RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was over southwest Portland. A
male EURASIAN WIGEON coming out of eclipse was at Koll Center Marsh in
Beaverton October 4. That day a BRANT and a SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER were at
Fernhill Wetlands. A STILT SANDPIPER was there all week. On October 10 an
early NORTHERN SHRIKE was at Fernhill. Two REDPOLLS were reported October 8
at McIver State Park neaar Estecada. A group of 20 RED-TAILED HAWKS, an
early ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, and a FERRUGINOUS HAWK were along Delashmutt Lane
southwest of McMinnville October 7. ON October 9 a CLARK?S NUTCRACKER was on
Marys Peak. A late WESTERN TANAGER and an early TOWNSEND?S WARBLER were in
Eugene October 6. On October 7 a PALM WARBLER was near the Metz Hill I5 exit
in Douglas County.

On October 4 a SAY?S PHOEBE was in Burns. A BLACK PHOEBE was seen September
26 at Roaring Springs Ranch south of Frenchglen. A chocolate SOOTY FOX
SPARROW was at Malheur NWR Headquarters October 8. A SLATE-COLORED JUNCO
was there October 10. A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen October 10 at Wickiup
Reservoir.
