Today, Les Carlson, George Mayfield, Bob Rowe and I birded from dawn to dusk in Skamania County. We started out at our place near the Clark County with about 25 species including SHARP-SHINNED HAWK, MOURNING DOVE, ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD, BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER, TOWNSEND'S WARBLER and RED CROSSBILL.
Along Marble Road we found a female NORTHERN HARRIER and hordes of Robins, we also had a Western Meadowlark that stubbornly stayed on the Clark County side of the fence. At the St. Cloud Recreation area a small flock of GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were on the Columbia River shoreline. Franz Lake NWR had two GREAT EGRETS on the west end of the lake. A stop at the Beacon Rock State Park boat launch provided us with two RED-NECKED GREBES still in breeding colors. We ended up with a total of 76 species the day.
