Tweets ? I finally was able to take a look at photos that Ollie Oliver took, Thursday, of a bird that only he and Sharon saw over at the Compost Piles at Marymoor Park (Redmond, King Co.) They had thought the bird looked smaller than a White-crowned Sparrow, and looked different in several ways. I?d tried to look at the photos just on Ollie?s camera, in the parking lot, and had figured it was probably only another White-crowned, despite their feelings that it wasn?t.

When Ollie sent the photos to me today, they indeed seemed wrong for White-crowned, and with a little book-diving, I was able to be sure it was an AMERICAN TREE SPARROW. My apologies to Ollie and Sharon for not pursuing things Thursday.

I?ve put one of Ollie?s photos on the blog, http://www.marymoor.org/cgi-bin/blosxom.cgi/Birds

This is our 3rd fall record for American Tree Sparrow, the other two being around Halloween, 2009, and Nov. 5, 2003. The 2009 bird stayed around for 4 days, so it?s possible this year?s bird is still hanging out at the Compost Piles.
