Evans Creek Preserve is located on 224th, south off the Redmond-Fall City?Road & slightly west of Albertsons.? My wife and I birded there for the first time this evening.? If you haven't been there, I highly recommend a visit.? The locale is beautiful and we saw some interesting birds in a short period of time.? The preserve was purchased by the city of Sammamish from the UW and is being restored.??There are a number a loop trails?that encompass a variety of habitats.? Evans Creek runs through the preserve creating a number of wetlands.? There are also open fields and forested areas.? We only had time to walk the shortest loop trail.? The birds that we saw included a Cooper's Hawk, 2 Red-tailed Hawks, a Common Nighthawk, a Brown Creeper, many Savannah Sparrows, many chickadees (both Chestnut-backed and Black-capped), a Golden-crowned Sparrow, a Ruby-crowned Kinglet, a Northern Flicker and some very agitated American Robins.? If our auditory
skills were better the list would be longer.? The Cooper's Hawk was our second of the day, the first being a yard bird this morning.
