Subject: [Tweeters] Winter birds and absent Bushtits

After reading Carol's report about the Edmonds Marina, her comment about old man winter struck me as being so true. I was sitting in my living room looking at the rain pour down when I noticed that my two Pine Siskins had shown up at my feeders to join the flock of 30+ American Goldfinches that frequent my yard on a regular basis. The horde of Bushtits arrived as well along with a Ruby-crowned Kinglet. Funny enough, the Bushtits are usually present year round, nesting in a big tree right off the deck, but this year after everyone fledged, the horde disappeared for several weeks. I wonder why?
