(say it fast---)

This afternoon a female ring-necked pheasant appeared in our back yard
(Meadowbrook area, north of the UW), pecking at the lemon balm and the grass
between the bricks of the patio. It stayed for almost two hours, sometimes
looking directly in the glass back door, and tolerating my husband stepping
outside to within 10 ft.

It seemed used to people and behaved more like a chicken than a game bird.
Does anyone know of someone local with pheasants?
