Tweets, Tuesday at the Gog-le-hi-te gull site in Tacoma I found a Nikon
single-piece ocular cover. Thought about taking it and mailing it to a
claimant, but left it in case someone comes a-looking. Put in on the post of
the yellow gate across the dike to the observation platform. If not a
local's, perhaps another tweeter would be willing to retrieve and mail it to
a known address if posted. Spent a couple hours midday there without
sighting the Slaty-backed Gull. Also, between squalls at Tokeland/Westport
on Monday I managed to see but one of six target birds: the eider as well
described in Allen Richards' post, but no L Black-backed Gull, Tropical
Kingbird, Clark's Grebe or Hudsonian or Bar-tailed Godwit. I returned to
Tokeland near sunset in hopes the godwit flock would appear near high tide
to roost for the night, but only a single Marbled scouted the area and kept
going. Thankfully I had enough sense to stay dry!
