hi all ... yesterday Gene and I went up to Tokeland to look for the
Bar-tailed Godwit (nope), to Grayland Beach for the Snowy Plover
(yes) and the Wilson's Plover (nope), and then to Westport to look
for the Common Eider (yes) ... our thanks to ALL the other birders we
ran into who gave us location information, ID information, and help
finding and/or looking for these birds and a couple of others (Rich,
Steve, Ray, Chazz, Igor, and another tall unknown gentleman at
Grayland Beach carrying a camera, and a gentleman we ran into on the
boardwalk who told us to "hurry" out to the Eider as the bird was in
close) ... all would have been "lifers" for me ... but, 2 out of the
4 we went looking for made for a great day ... the Common Eider was
my 299th photographed bird !!!!!!!!!! ... (ok, looking for #300 now
before the end of the year ... LOL) ... my most fun bird --- I just
fell for the Snowy Plovers ... I really enjoyed watching them
scurrying across the beach in such a haphazard manner ...

here's some of the Eider pictures ... day was overcast and gray with
just a bit of sun seeping through now and then ... camera was the
Canon 7d with a 400mm lens ...
