Two White-headed Gulls were perched on a log on the Everett waterfront the other day.

One , a big local Glaucous-wing, introduced himself. "Hi, I'm Larry. Welcome to Everett- I don't think I've seen you down here before".

" That's correct" said the other "I'm just passing through. Name's Lars"

" Lars. That's an interesting name. Where ya from?" inquired Larry.

"Iceland"

Larry was excited. " Hey I've never met an Iceland Gull before! What brings you around here?"

"Well" says Lars "Some think I'm lost, but really I was just bored and decided to do a West Coast of North America Tour. So far it's been interesting. I certainly have been getting alot of attention!"

"I'll bet" says Larry. "If you announced yourself on Tweeters right now you'd have birders glued to you like a Swarovski scope on a stick! So where have you been so far?"

"Well I started in California and worked my way up. Met some unusual White-heads down there, real artist types. Crapped on a grey rock and called it "self portraiture".

"Oh you mean Heerman's! They are a bit odd. Look a bit different, talk funny. I hear there's some just south of here in Edmond's. Hard to see on those breakwaters though. Real gypsies this time of year, soon headed to California again".

"Real gypsy artists those Californians, eh?" says Lars.

"Yep" replies Larry. "Actually I'm a bit of an Artist myself, mostly landscapes. Could never get into self-portraits - takes too much whitewash. Don't really have it in me, if you know what I mean".

"Well, I think I do" says Lars." You really are quite a large white fellow!".
