I just returned from "Hot" Westport - Hot both in
the sense that it really was warm (and dry) there
and also the miraculous birds continue on. I
wanted to get something on tweeters so anyone
planning a trip would have updated info - but
given how many birders were down there, maybe
everyone knows first hand and I am sure many more
reports will follow.

A uick summary: The Northern Wheatear continues
at the Westport Jetty/Westhaven State Park. Bird
is skittish but patience is rewarded and good
views were had both on the ground and in flight.
MANY birders there. Two Peregrines were also at
the Jetty. The Common Eider continues just off
the entrance to the Westport Marina (and after
three hours missing it in terrible rain on Monday,
it sure was nice to see it easily and well in dry
weather today. Nobody I spoke to had seen the
Tropical Kingbird at Tokeland (and I did not) but
we had at least one Bar Tailed Godwit continuing
with the 150-250 Marbleds at the Marina. Also had
some Willets. And the Wilson's Plover was seen
again at Grayland.

It was great to see all these wonderful birds on a
single day and also great to see so many birders
with success in seeing them. It has been quite a
Fall!!!

And oh yeah - No Tsunami!!!
