While doing my bird-a-day thing this morning, I came upon a HUGE flock of over 2500 geese in a farm field at 1794 Port Williams Rd. (next to the Port Williams Lavender Farm), here in Sequim, Clallam Co. Most of the geese were Canada & Cackling Geese but there were probably about 40 Greater White-fronted Geese in the flock as well. I searched in vain for an Emperor Goose but came up empty handed. However, I did manage to find a Brant in the flock. I haven't seen a Brant in over 15 years so, although they are common up here in winter, it was a thrill for me to find it. I managed a bad photo through the fog of the bird. Go here:

Also, I found a Canada Goose with a white collar ring i.e. plumage variation? I've not seen this before in Canada Geese but then again, I don't get Canada Geese in south Florida either! What's up with that bird? In the general area were many White-crowned Sparrows, House Finch and other common birds. Comments are welcome.

Cheers.
