The NORTHERN WHEATEAR was present today in the am and pm at Westhaven Park
in Westport. When I first arrived at 8:40 am it was at the rocky point in
the opposite direction from the jetty. It came back to this spot later in
the morning. I saw it on the jetty with a group of birders between 10:50
am and 11:20 am, and again at 1:40 pm with Michael Willison. The wind and
rain picked up in the afternoon and the bird demonstrated that it is a
strong flyer with a heavy rain blowing sideways. The conditions did not
seem to influence the bird negatively as it foraged.

One BAR-TAILED GODWIT was on the boat launch dock at Tokeland at 4:10 pm.

On the way home to Oregon a RED-SHOULDERED HAWK landed on the power line
along Highway 6 about three miles north of the town of Menlo. The bird was
in the area between Hunt Clubb Road and Camp 1 Road.
