?The nearly continuous?rain of the past twenty-four hours has transformed the Edmonds marsh into Lake Edmonds.???The high water has drawn the ducks, which usually?swim in Willow Creek on the far south side of the marsh, to the?north side near the walkway and?viewing platforms.? There they? swam among the partially submerged rushes and cattails.??? My favorite were the American wigeons, which I seldom see?from?such a?close?distance.?

The high water had the opposite effect on many of the herons, which were perched in the trees at the south side of the marsh while their usual resting spots?remained underwater.?? Flocks of ducks and geese were constantly arriving during my two trips to the marsh on Halloween Day.???????
