Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday November 1. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

BLUE JAYS were reported during the week from near Izee and near Willamina.

Several TROPICAL KINGBIRDS and up to four SWAMP SPARROWS were in the Coos
Bay area during the week. A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was south of Coos Bay
October 30. A SNOW BUNTING was at Cape Kiwanda in Pacific City October 25. A
LONG-TAILED DUCK was at Yaquina Bay October 28. Migrant birds off Boiler Bay
October 29 included 3000 HEERMANN?S GULLS, but only eight BROWN PELICANS, 65
ANCIENT MURRELETS, and 800 RHINOCEROS AUKLETS. At the South Jetty of the
Columbia River October 29 were ten LAPLAND LONGSPURS and a NORTHERN SHRIKE.

A LAPLAND LONGSPUR was seen during the week in the Rivergate Area of North
Portland. On October 30 a dead POORWILL was found on a southeast Portland
street. A SWAMP SPARROW was seen October 28 at the Koll Wetlands in
Beaverton. At Hagg Lake south of Forest Grove during the week were a PACIFIC
LOON, three GREATER SCAUP, 16 SURF SCOTERS, and a WHITE-WINGED SCOTER. At
the nearby Fernhill Wetlands were two WHITE PELICANS, a BLACK PHOEBE, and
several BARN SWALLOWS. A SWAMP SPARROW was there October 24. On October 27 a
RED PHALAROPE was on the Philomath Sewage Ponds. A WHITE-WINGED SCOTER was
there the next day. The Alvadore MOCKINGBIRD returned October 25. Another
was at Fern Ridge Reservoir October 28.

At Wickiup Reservoir south of Bend October 26 were four PACIFIC LOONS among
the 182 COMMON LOONS, three GREATER SCAUP, and 24 SURF SCOTERS. Six SURF
SCOTERS were on Suttle Lake October 27.
