Hi all,

This isn't news that's going to make you alter your weekend plans...I just saw a female Hairy Woodpecker in my backyard in north Seattle. It was here for about 20 minutes working on a dying ornamental shrub. It had a long bill and white outer tail feathers and was large. I got a few digibin'ed photos. Not a bird I was expecting to see in a sparsely wooded suburban neighborhood a few blocks south of Meadowbrook Pond.
