On Saturday near the S.E. bridge to Foster Island a Pileated Woodpecker had a brief encounter with a small bird of prey. I am pretty sure that it was either a Kestrel or a Merlin but I am not positive which given the poor angle of the photo. If this is your area of expertise I would welcome your thoughts.
