Hello all,
The Tuesday walkers had a beautiful morning around the lake today - the Wilson's Plover was at its usual spit - but as noted it is limping a little - but seems to feed and fly OK. Migrants are sure coming in - White-crowned and Chipping Sparrows all over, Yellow-rumped Warblers and Ruby-crowned Kinglets are a sure sign of fall. Added one new county year bird today - American Pipit - somehow missed them this spring.
A Red-naped Sapsucker gave us great views and a Clay-colored Sparrow was again on the west side of the canal but south further that last week Sunday and Tuesday. It chipped and sang briefly - as it did when first found - first time we have heard one sing in the fall.
Wilson's, Yellow and Townsend's Warblers and a few Warbling Vireos along with Hammond's Flycatchers were scattered along the trail. Gray Catbirds, House Wren and WWPewees local breeders hanging around - the pewees still feeding begging young in 3 spots around the lake.
