Yet another lovely morning, cool and sunny with a little more dew than in
past weeks. Migrants are starting to show up, though not in large numbers.
A couple of young Red-tailed Hawks were active early with lots of
screeching, and a Cooper's Hawk streaked across the meadows, keeping many
of the passerines hunkered down. Still, a few notables...

Golden-crowned Sparrow - they are back, and in good numbers, all over the
park
Lincoln Sparrow - also starting to show, maybe half a dozen
Warbling Vireo - a few, various locations
Warblers included Yellow and several Orange-crowned, plus lingering Common
Yellowthroat
Pacific-slope Flycatcher
Western Tanager - several on Promontory Point

Pied-billed Grebe - a couple on the main pond; a while since they have been
around
Northern Pintail - threesome on the Entrance Pond; very infrequent visitor

Noteworthy for their absence were any owls. Let's hope the construction has
not pushed them from the park.
