Hello everyone,

http://nationalzoo.si.edu/scbi/migratorybirds/research/american-dipper/

As part of an ongoing study of the ecological impacts of dams by the
Smithsonian and the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe, we have been banding
American Dippers on several rivers of the Olympic Peninsula. We are
focusing our research on dippers and other songbirds because they are
very good indicators of stream ecosystem health. Banding them enables
us to identify different individuals in the field and thus track their
seasonal movements and survival.

We are hoping you can assist us with our research goals by reporting
any banded dippers you see while birding on the peninsula. We will
continue to monitor these birds ourselves, but any additional
observations are extremely helpful and can help us cover more ground.
Your contributions can go a long way towards advancing this
conservation research.
