Hi Tweeters,

I started my birding day at the east end of Riffe Lake in Lewis County
where I found a single GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE in with the CANADA
GEESE. The only shorebirds I saw were 2 GREATER YELLOWLEGS and 1 PECTORAL
SANDPIPER in addition to the numerous KILLDEER. There were also 16 AMERICAN
PIPITS present, but the show stopper was the swallows which I consevatively
estimated at ten thousnd, of which 75% were VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS and the
balance were BARN SWALLOWS. They were everywhere over the lake and over
land, both high and low.

After a number of uneventful stops I finished my birding day at Wenas Lake
in Yakima County. There was a GREAT EGRET that was quite evident as I
pulled into the parking area. Later a PEREGRINE FALCON flew over and landed
in a leafless tree, giving great scope looks. Shorebirds encoutered in
addition to the usual KILLDEER were SPOTTED SANDPIPER(1), WESTERN
SANDPIPER(2), LEAST SANDPIPER(2), PECTORAL SANDPIPER(1), and LONG-BILLED
DOWITCHER(1).
