Subject: [Tweeters] 17 Great Blue Herons Together

Yesterday I drove out to Padilla Bay, and walked along the shore-front
trail. A little ways across the water, on a tiny inaccessible stretch of
grass with some dead-looking trees, I counted 17 great blue herons, all
sitting and standing within a few feet of each other. Before this, I had
only ever seen a maximum of two of these birds at once, so it was pretty
incredible. I had no idea they even congregated in groups like this.
