Homeward bound from the coast, we detoured a bit to Ridgefield NWR and the
River 'S' Unit, where we had great birding in late afternoon. Highlights
included GREEN HERON and a screaming RED-SHOULDERED HAWK. On the Auto Tour
Route at Pond 2, we had super views of American Bittern, Green and Great
Blue Herons, all in the open! The Red-shouldered Hawk was nearby this spot,
too, in the Oregon Ash woodlands.
