I much prefer Android to iPhone and find Apple a complete rip-off on several
fronts.



But don't take my noisy "Jay-screech" opinion for anything! I highly
recommend you spend a great deal of time playing/testing with several phones
at the store before you buy. Also be sure you can have your phone for a few
days and still be able to bring it back if you do not like it! Ultimately
when it comes to apps, both Android and Apple have many great apps, not just
for birding but for all kinds of things. So test the phones out, find one
that thrills you and seems like a friend rather than a foe. That's really
the best advice I can offer.

I have an Android phone and love how they work. I have "ibird" (use the
most), Audubon Bird Ap (good for instant connection to ebird), and Sibley
ap.
