Tweeters,

I decided to spend the day at home and do a four hour big sit on my back
deck. The hoped for warbler show never materialized but it's amazing how
many species one can get when one isn't interrupted by computers, phones,
and deadlines. I ended up with 51 species which included the following
highlights:

Greater White-fronted Goose 6 (silent flyover flock at 9:30am - first of
the Fall and first for the year for the yard)
five species of raptors including one immature Northern Harrier in definite
migration mode
Red-breasted Sapsucker - only the second sighting this year
Pacific-slope Flycatcher 1
Willow Flycatcher 1
Red-breasted Nuthatch 3
White-breasted Nuthatch 1
Golden-crowned Kinglet 1 (first of the Fall and first for the year for the
yard)
Band-tailed Pigeon 19
Steller's Jay - the local flock is now up to 20
Evening Grosbeak 75 (five flocks)
Red Crossbill 4
American Pipit (first of the Fall and first for the year for the yard)

The night flight continues to be lackluster.

Keep your eyes and ears skyward.

Jim
