As the Saturday night swift counters we were kept busy last night at the celebratory Swift Night Out in Monroe. Approximately 5,637 Vaux's swifts entered the
Wagner Center chimney last night between 7:10 - 7:45 pm. The usual predators, merlins and crows, stayed away. When we arrived in mid-afternoon the swifts were
already in attendance and gave good looks to the huge crowd attending. The lawn in front of the school was filled and the happy crowd clapped in appreciation as
the last swift entered the chimney. A great night of good birds, good food, and good companionship.
