A nice mix of fall migrants today at Vantage. Some of the birds would be more expected in October, so seem a tad early for the area.

The Cove (formerly known as Getty's Cove):
Merlin-1
Hairy Woodpecker-1
Fox Sparrow-2
White-throated Sparrow-1 (tan-striped)
Hermit Thrush-3
Many kinglets of both species and some red-breasted nuthatches (6), though not the hordes reported by others out in the Columbia Basin
Many juncos and yellow-rumped warblers, few others warblers (only one Townsend's)

South of Wanapum Dam:
Red-breasted Merganser-1 (with Common merganser)
Herring Gull-2 (tad early though we also had one last weekend on the WOS trip)

A very nice warm day compared to the miserable windy weather of last weekend.
