Enjoyed Eide Rd. around 9 a.m. today in the company of several fine birders, one of whom spotted a merlin for us near the beginning of the road (thanks, Dick!). No ruff, but a short-eared owl flying in broad daylight as it tangled with several harriers was a interesting sight. We also saw a Cooper's Hawk, a small variety of shorebirds (dowitchers, least sandpiper, killdeer), and an American pipit in or near the ponds at the end of the road.
