My wife, daughter and I had a 9 day camping trip to Grand Teton and
Yellowstone Parks at the end of August. We spent a good deal of time looking
for birds.
This is certainly not a great time to bird those parks but we did see some
good birds. In some of the higher elevation areas it was neat to see the
Clark's Nutcrackers going after the White Bark Pine cones. They were
harvesting the seeds. Sometimes it appeared they would get sap on their bill
and they would try to wipe it off on branches. Here's a picture of a
Nutcracker getting a seed.

In addition to the Nutcracker's going after the Pine cones the Black Bears
were too. We saw a mother Sow and 2 cubs 40 feet up a tree near Dunraven
Pass (8,900 elevation). This was from over half a mile away so the pictures
were not the best.
Close by this this area I also saw my first Pine Grosbeak. This was probably
my best image of one

Other notable birds for me were
Dusky Grouse - lifebird on Signal Mountain
Northern Goshawk - lifebird seen near Two Oceans Lake
Sora near Pelican Creek
American Avocet - 3 in Hayden Valley
Townsend's Solitaire - along Fairy Falls Trail
American Dipper - seen near 2 waterfalls and LeHardy rapids
Common Nighthawk - lifebird along I90 near Butte, MT
A posted about a dozen bird images form the trip if some are interested at
