Tweeters,

Nine WESTERN BLUEBIRDS flew past yesterday at about 10:30am, and the first
GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW since late Spring showed up yesterday afternoon.
Today, two COMMON RAVENS, a TURKEY VULTURE, and an OSPREY were in a thermal
overhead this afternoon. (Only the second OSPREY on the property since we
moved here - the last was about a month ago.)

About a month ago, we saw the first elk (I can't believe they were in our
wetland area) since we moved in 7 years ago, but while watching the elk, we
spotted BARN OWLS hunting the wetlands. Since then, we've seen least one
owl hunting the area below the house every evening. Thus far, the local
Great Horned Owls haven't gotten to them.

Vesper, White-crowned, and Chipping Sparrows came through in rather higher
numbers than usual last week, and a female Western Tanager was in the
backyard birdbath two days ago.

The numbers of EURASIAN COLLARED DOVES appears to be increasing near the Roy
post office. This morning, I saw four of them between there and a block away
on 280th St.

May all your birds be identified,

Denis DeSilvis
